About Tekkie Tax

Introduction

Tekkie Tax is a Fundraising Campaign that was started in 2013. Some of the most prolific National Welfare Organisations in SA joined forces to establish a powerful national fundraising campaign called National Tekkie Tax Day.

History

Since its inception, the campaign raised nearly R48million. During the same time, Tekkie Tax generated sponsored publicity of close to R100million. Once the annual audit in October is completed, all the profit is distributed to participating beneficiaries.

The project is supported by thousands of individuals, companies, SMMEs, NGOs & schools and we are thankful to each one for joining in the fun. Due to continued participation, this is quickly becoming the most significant fundraising campaign in South Africa.

HOW does it work?

  • Members of the public may choose to support the Tekkie Tax sector of their choice. There are five different sectors: A = Animals, B = Bring Hope, C= Children, D = Disability and E = Education. Depending on where your heart lies, you can choose which of the five sectors you would like to support and YES, you may choose more than one!
  • Wear the “All for One and One for All” Tekkie Tax sticker on Friday, 29 May 2020 and show others where your heart lies.
  • Wear the one of the latest Tekkie Tax badges (A, B, C, D or E) for the month of May.
  • Next step is to purchase a pair of our funky Tekkie Tax Shoelaces. On 29th of May, you can dress up or down (it really does not matter) but remember to wear your tekkies with their special new shoelaces.
  • Just to make sure that you are making the circle bigger, get one of our stunning T-shirts.

WHEN is Tekkie Tax Day?

The next Tekkie Tax Day is on Friday, 31 July 2020.

WHERE can you get your goodies?

What does it cost?

  • Sticker – R10
  • Badge – R10
  • Tekkie Tax shoelaces – R40/pair (including a sticker)
  • Tekkie Tax T-shirts – R100 adults and kiddies R80. T-shirts are available in 2 colours – Denim Blue and Light Grey. Sizes: 2 years – 5XL.

Who are the BENEFICIARY organisations?

The fact that so many welfare organisations across a variety of service delivery fields are working together saves a lot of money and creates a fundraising platform for organisations that do not have the infrastructure to organise a campaign of this magnitude, combining efforts ensure that the Campaign is driven in the most cost effective way. The list of participating organisations is growing on a daily basis.

Since its inception, more than 2,000 local and national organisations benefitted from the work that Tekkie Tax is doing.
